Early lifting/gellae not staying on for long?Updated 2 months ago
If you're experiencing early lifting or your Gellae stickers aren't staying on long, several factors might be at play. Gellae is a new nail technology, so mastering the application might take a little practice. Here are a few common causes of early lifting:
- Extensions: Were the stickers used as extensions beyond your natural nails? Gellae is designed for natural nail length.
- Water exposure: Did they come into contact with water within 1-2 hours of application? This will affect the curing process.
- Under-curing: Were they fully cured under a UV lamp until hardened? If you are able to indent your nails into the sticker, they are not fully cured.
- Contact with skin: Are the stickers touching your cuticles or skin? Natural oils can loosen adhesion.
- Pre-application prep: Did you clean your nails with an alcohol wipe and let them dry? Dehydrating the nail bed helps improve adhesion.
- Nail bed texture: Did you roughen your nail beds before applying? Though not necessary, it can help the stickers grip better.
- Pressure: Was pressure applied around the edges to seal the stickers? This is key to long lasting wear.
- Sunlight exposure: Were the stickers exposed to sunlight for more than a few minutes before application? UV exposure can cause them to start curing prematurely.
- Trimming and filing: Did you trim and file excess stickers before curing? Too much filing after curing may cause lifting.
- Oily nails: Do you have naturally oily nail beds? Oils can weaken adhesion over time.
